Looking Toward the Future: 2009
We here at Jack’s Attic would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of our patrons that made 2008 a great start for us. And it was just that, a start. We have a lot of very exciting designs ready to be unveiled in 2009.
New colors, shapes and materials are all part of our upcoming 2009 design collection. The foundation that was established in 2008 will provide an excellent springboard for where Jack’s Attic is going. If you were pleased with what we had to offer in 2008, we know that you will be more than satisfied with what is on the horizon.
We have a tentative release date of January 16, 2009, for our next handmade, dark art pendant design. In the meantime we will continue to post about the other dark corners we like to peer into: horror movies, ghost stories, scary video games and other things that go bump in the night.
So, once again, all of us here at Jack’s Attic whole heartedly thank all of our patrons, supporters and friends for making 2008 a great year for us and hope that you all follow us into the unknown of 2009.
Westward Expansion
With recent purchases, sightings of Jack’s Attic handmade, dark art pendants have been reported in Iowa and as far west as Nevada.

The Spirit Photography of William Hope

We here at Jack’s Attic love all things ghostly. One of the things we routinely seek out and search for is photographic evidence of life after death in the form of apparitions captured on film. In one of our recent searches we stumbled across the amazingly haunting spirit photography of William Hope. (more…)

Friday the 13th Blu-ray Art and Specs

Here is the final cover art for the eagerly awaited debut of Friday the 13th on Blu-ray. It’s pretty classy if you ask me. It’s a reworking of sorts of the original Friday poster art. A nice update with a tip of the hat to the original. I especially like the knife being the “1″ in 13. Very nice indeed.

Mary Shelley

Any of these pendant designs can be purchased through our Etsy Shoppe.
Splatterhouse

One of the things we here at Jack’s Attic love almost as much as horror movies is scary video games. Years before Raccoon City became infested with the living dead and before the streets of Silent Hill beckoned hapless victims, there was a visceral little game called Splatterhouse. (more…)

My Name is Bruce coming to Blu-Ray

What would happen if a small Oregon town was besieged by ancient Chinese demons? Who would you turn to in this dark hour? Well if you had Ash from the Evil Dead series living next door he’d be a good choice. But what if you had Bruce Campbell, the actor who portrayed Ash in those movies, as your neighbor? That is the premise of “My Name is Bruce” the new movie which will finally be released on Blu-Ray on February 10, 2009.
When the avatar of the Chinese war deity Guan Di attacks the small town where Bruce Campbell resides, the townsfolk mistake him for his character of Ash and designate him as the hero chosen to stop the demons besieging them. Hilarity ensues.
The film has garnered a lot of positive reviews and is currently touring the country, with Bruce Campbell introducing the film and sticking around for “a spirited” Q&A afterwards. So before you pick it up on Blu-Ray in February, be sure to check out this LIST to see if My Name is Bruce is playing in your area.
The 100 Candle Game
This is a game I saw showcased on the A&E show Paranormal State. It was believed to have been a right of passage and test of courage for Samurai in feudal Japan. I suggested we play it at our Halloween Party this year and I was glad I did. It involves lighting 100 candles (we lit as many candles as there were guests). You then turn off all the lights in the house, all of them. Next each person takes a turn telling a TRUE ghost or supernatural story. The tale doesn’t have to be a first hand account but it must be true. After each person tells their story they blow out their candle. As each story is told the room gets darker and darker until you are sitting in pitch darkness. It is said that the “game” is an evocation and by the time the room is shrouded in darkness a spirit will manifest itself. We played our 100 candle game in a house known to be haunted and by the end of the game, three different people reported seeing the same thing; a glowing orb in the upper corner of a closet. One of them also said that they had seen a tall black shape pass in front of the orb. The owner of the house said that while one of the stories was being told he saw something moving in his kitchen. All of us were in the living room at that time and no one else was in the house. Also when I was telling my story all of us heard a loud popping noise come from the kitchen.
It was a truly creepy experience and as the room got darker and darker the excitement and fear grew. It’s an easy game to set up, you just need some friends and some candles and you’re all set. Just be warned that when you’re done you may have a few new guests amongst you. HERE is a link to a small article on the games origins.
